What is a Steward?

Stewards take a number of roles in the Guild. They provide leadership in the workplace. They organize co-workers to take collective action. They educate members about solidarity, justice and the importance of political and legislative action. Perhaps most importantly, they represent members in meetings with management and during the grievance process.

Rank and File Stewards represent Librarians I, II and III. Supervisory Stewards represent Senior and Principal Librarians.
